Max ( Max Records ) è un ragazzino in età preadolescenziale animato da una più che spiccata fantasia, da una esplosiva energia vitale e da un'altrettanto incontrollabile necessità di attenzioni. Un giorno, dopo l'ennesima incomprensione con la madre e la sorella, fugge di casa e finisce in una lontana foresta popolata da misteriose creature fantastiche tanto goffe quanto devastanti.



Pubblicato per la prima volta nel 1963, “ Where the Wild Things Are ” è un classico della letteratura per ragazzi scritto ed illustrato da Maurice Sendak . Un’opera molto conosciuta ed apprezzata negli USA, al punto di essere stata più volte realizzata in forma di cortometraggio animato con tecniche classiche o digitali. Qui, però, vede per la prima volta la luce nella veste di lungometraggio.



Dopo parecchi tentativi di produzione (alcuni dei quali, addirittura, firmati Disney), la storia raggiunge il grande schermo per mano di Spike Jonze , uno dei registi più innovativi, originali ed imprevedibili della “nuova Hollywood ". The imprint of the director is not secondary, both for reasons of production (it seems that the initial involvement of the Universal has failed precisely because of differences with the same Jonze) and for purely stylistic reasons.

In terms of narrative, the film is very very simple representation, however, is quite complex and visceral. We are facing a "simple" children's film. The representation of the instincts of the young Max are, indeed, represented in a very subtle and nuanced dell'introspettivo to the limit, and its interaction with the "Wild Things" tells us much more modern man than any manual on interpersonal relationships. The more rarefied moments alternate with real explosion of vitality in the wavering and the trend narrative fully reflect the rapid alternation of states of mind of Max, poised between the desire to give free rein to the instincts and the search for a sincere feeling. Not surprisingly, the same production house, saw the result, gave up a promotion aimed at a young target and ended up publicity for the film as a product for an adult audience.

elusive and multifaceted nature of this film tells me that already his admirers will not be many, but I would say it is a wonderful film, sweet, strong, energetic and full of deep meanings even where it seems more superficial.

Certainly not a film for everyone.

In un periodo particolarmente buio della propria vita e carriera, Jean-Claude Van Damme (nella parte di se stesso) torna nel proprio paese natale in Belgio, ma, entrando in un ufficio postale per una normale operazione di routine, viene coinvolto in una rapina in atto. Il confronto tra il coraggioso eroe-karateca dell'immaginario cinematografico e l'uomo "reale" with its weaknesses and vulnerabilities will be inevitable.

I would say that in this case, the European style can give the film a touch of fruity extra.

Unlike other reviews I've read, however, I considered it quite unnecessary and evitabilissimo the famous monologue -six-minute confession desired by the writer-director Van Damme and improvised from from its ups and downs experienced by the star's success. One could say that would be enough shots, the silences and the comparison with the other characters (one for all, the dialogue between the actor and taxi driver) to say much more than any "mea culpa" and that the flat-spotted of his own miseries that can not only be sad and pathetic, almost as bare his feelings in the "confessional" a reality / celebrity show .

Sam Bell ( Sam Rockwell ) è l'unico tecnico e abitante di una stazione mineraria sulla luna, la cui sola compagnia è costituita dal computer parlante GERTY (nella versione originale doppiato da Kevin Spacey ). Giunto al termine dei suoi tre anni di contratto, Sam patisce sempre più il peso di un isolamento così prolungato e della lontananza dai suoi familiari. Un incidente due to fatigue, though, oblige him to deal with himself and with some bitter truth.

Highly recommended for lovers of tales of Asimov, Bradbury and Sheckley, science fiction film those nostalgic of late '70s / early '80s and all those who have dreamed up some great stories in comics with the lonely astronauts into nothingness of space ...

do not know the original release of this film, the version of Buscemi, however, I found it interesting in its intentions, but little success in practice.

Film only " actor, soon loses interest in the characters and repeated hesitations in their conduct" wavering. "
shame because the finish is beautiful ... perhaps he could better withstand the short-time or, at most, of medium length.

From what I hear, is the first film of a planned trilogy of American remakes from the work of Dutch filmmaker.

Recommended only to fans of Buscemi and the incurable fans of independent film.
