Polvere di stella

" JCVD - Nessuna giustizia "

Il confronto tra il coraggioso eroe-karateca dell'immaginario cinematografico e l'uomo "reale" with its weaknesses and vulnerabilities will be inevitable.

Almost fifty years and with different stages of fluctuating success behind him, Van Damme here are at stake by agreeing to tease and reveal the glories and miseries of his career in a film that, starting from the classic pattern of ' hostage movie, mixes reality and fiction in a paradoxical and witty. Among

That Dog Day Afternoon and Being John Malkovich, this film takes the first prose and effective dry film and the second game of intellectual Metafilm. The general tone of the film, however, is almost always a grotesque, ironic and intelligent play with the classic style of film-robbery enriching subtleties directing that allude to some great classics, but without taking herself too seriously, while the pale and desaturated photography seems to emphasize the traces of time (and everyday) now marked on the body of the actor-athlete, and various improvised dialogue to emphasize that these games do not make sense. I would say that in this case, the European style can give the film a touch of fruity extra.

Unlike other reviews I've read, however, I considered it quite unnecessary and evitabilissimo the famous monologue -six-minute confession desired by the writer-director Van Damme and improvised from from its ups and downs experienced by the star's success. One could say that would be enough shots, the silences and the comparison with the other characters (one for all, the dialogue between the actor and taxi driver) to say much more than any "mea culpa" and that the flat-spotted of his own miseries that can not only be sad and pathetic, almost as bare his feelings in the "confessional" a reality / celebrity show .

In essence, the film funny, intriguing and also significant, but without excess Metafilm brainy. Perfectly summed up in the metaphor of the contrast between the post office under siege and videoteca di fronte.

Buona visione!
